Weapons

The weapons covered here are grouped into three categories based on their general utility: ranged weapons, heavy weapons, and melee weapons.

You can only use weapons you have certified. Each weapon will fall under a certification category, and as soon as you unlock the certification, you can use the weapon. MAX weaponry is the exception to this, as it is unlocked with the “Max Armor” certification.

Weapons do not cost money, rather, the limit to what you can use at any given time is dictated by what you can carry. Each armor (Standard, Medium, Reinforced, and MAX) has a different amount of inventory space. The inventory size of a weapon is dictated by what size category of weapon (or tool) the weapon/tool is.

  • Pistol size occupies one square.
  • Rifle Size occupy a 1×2 rectangle.
  • Max weapons or Heavy Weapons size occupy a 1×3 rectangle.

You can only change your loadout while at a safe location (GM’s discretion). While you are at a safe location, you can requisition an airdrop, containing a new loadout for you to resupply and reload.

Ranged Weapons

Ranged weapons fall into two groups: Pistols, and Rifles.
When using a ranged weapon, the wielder uses his Ballistic Skill to determine if any hits by the weapon are made.

Ranged weapons are described by a number of statistics, as shown below.

  • Damage: The amount of Wounds the weapon inflicts on a successful hit.
  • Rate of Fire: Firearms, which operate through many different forms of internal mechanisms, have varying rates of fire. Rate of Fire, or RAF, is how many shots your weapon fires when you take the attack action. Some weapons fire more shots, but inflict fewer damage, other weapons may have fewer shots, but higher damage.
  • Size: Size categories for weapons and other objects are defined differently from the size categories for creatures. There are three sizes for weapons, Pistol, Rifle, and MAX. A pistol size can fit into a pistol holder (a 1×1 square), a rifle size can fit into a rifle holster (a 1×2 rectangle), and only MAX suits can utilize MAX sized weaponry a (1×3 rectangle).
  • Special Rules: A special rule is a special or unique quality about the weapon that separates it from other weapons, an example of this would be the Rapid Fire rule, which allows you to fire twice as many shots as long as the enemy is within 5 squares.
